If I could, I'd rather see you steer away from that particular P4... but, more on that in a minute. First I'd like to make sure that you are replacing your motherboard and RAM as well. That K-6 was a cool CPU, but there is nothing it could run on that would accept a P4, and probably not even the newer AMD CPU.
But, about the P4 on ebay, it runs on a 533 MHz bus. All the P4's that run on a 800 MHz front-side bus (FSB) will run circles around that CPU, mainly because of memory bandwidth. So if you can find a 800MHz FSB Pentium 4 for a similar price, that would be a step in the right direction. But that's just my opinion, and I want you to know that I'm having a hard time recommending a P4 CPU to anyone right at this moment. And that says something, because I am a big Intel fan.
