Windows Xp Boot Problem
OK here is the problem i would really appreciate any help that i receive.
I have a computer that had Windows 2000 installed. Upon powering on the machine post ran with no problem. Now when the setup screen windows 2000 built on NT technology came up it made a crazy noise and then gave me 6 beeps and restarted. Nothing else after that i had to hold the power button to turn the machine off. Ok i took out the hard drive set it to slave placed it on another pc and did a back up.
i put the hard drive back in the original pc booted from a windows xp cd and reformatted the hard drive. set up went great the computer restarted and was about to install drivers. Well it didnt go beyond that when it made the same noise and gave me the 6 beeps again. Ok restarted the pc got the option to boot from cd ofcourse i ignored it since i had just done it and it had to finish the installation. The windows logo comes back up and before it starts ofcourse same nosie same 6 beeps. I tried many things such as replacing ram 512MB installed same result. Disconnected floppy same result. Disconnected CD-ROM same result.
I thought maybe it was over heating and restarting itself but no power supply fan is working and so is the processor.
I check the internet for the beep codes on post the only problem i have is that if it reaches the windows logo and attempts to load windows doesnt that mean that post was completed?
well i didnt find anything my bios is phoenix 4.0
well like i said i would appreciate any help i receive thx all
