Angry Windows XP and Yahoo messenger

Hello,

Any one experienced problems with yahoo messenger on XP? The errors I get are pretty frustrating. It all started out when I installed the messenger and tried to send an instant message.
Have IE 6.0 messenger 5.5 and my machine is an IBM Thinkpad.

The pop up window went:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
An error has occured in the script on this page.

Line : 341
Char: 24
Error: Library not registered
Code: 0
URL : about blank

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Theres no login problems though. This happened only when I wanted to chat with friends online. On clicking NO a number of times i was able to chat. But when I moved on to another screen and came back to the chat window, the above message would pop up again. No access to voice at all. It would go - connecting to audio server and ... i guess keep connecting.

Did a virus check and came up with nothing. The yahoo support came up with a solution to register a dll. So I went to the command prompt c:\windows\system and typed "regsvr32 dxtmsft.dll" and the message i received was "successfully registered the dll". So far so good. I restarted the machine and guess what! same error..

ok, i thought, no big deal! uninstalled yahoo messenger. Manually deleted the folders and registry entries and reinstalled the messenger. Now the error is
---------------------------------------------------------------------
An exception occured. Do you with to debug?
---------------------------------------------------------------------

A click on either YES or NO brings up the debug screen at the following line:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
//---PRIVATE FUNCTIONS

function $Invoke(a,b){ $Y.InvokeCommand(a,b) };

.......... error is above apparantly. It wont step out or anything.

function $SetBase(s){Path=s};
function $SetInfo(s,d){YMSGR[s]=d};
function $Copy(){
var t=document.selection.createRange().text;
if (t!="")
$Invoke(10,t);
else if((typeof $Element!="undefined")&&($Element.tagName=="A"))
$Invoke(10,$Element.innerText);
}
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

When I close the debugger yahoo messenger closes.

Yahoo has a standard reply to all my queries "Uninstall Messenger and try again". Any enlightened soul out there to help me with this problem.

P.S.

Now I am an expert at installing and uninstalling yahoo messenger! Anyone wishing to utilize my expertise in this area could contact me, huh!
