Another Possible Solution To Missing Streaming Video on WMP10
Like many others, this problem seemed to materialize out of the blue for me, since I was not aware of any changes that I made to WMP10. One day I was seeing streaming video and the next day I was not. Having tried numerous unsuccessful 'fixes', I thought my solution was to reinstall the latest version of WMP but that did not fix the problem either. Based on numerous replies, and solutions, reported on user forums, it appears that the problem may be multi-faceted. My solution was to open the Performance tab under Tools\Options then click on the Advanced button. Within the Video Acceleration settings, I simply checked the 'use high quality mode' box. I found the 'use overlay' box checked when I first open the advanced settings window but have no idea as to why or how it got checked. All of the other boxes are checked for the Video Accelation settings. It was a trial and error process for me based on all of the postings I have read in various forums regarding this problem. Much of the quick solutions to these types of problems are hampered by the myriad systems and software configurations in use. As usual, Microsoft support is very limited so the user forums are of great help. Thanks to all who posted on this problem which helped greatly in solving my problem. Good luck on finding a solution Pablo. By the way, I am running Windows XP Pro and Firefox 1.5.0.1 as my browser on a P3 machine. My WMP10 version is 10.00.00.3802, downloaded this morning.
