Hi, I have a Fujitsu Siemens LIfebook E6560 laptop...
.... With a little help from this board I have recently installed a copy of XP Pro, which runs (reasonably) well on my laptop... Unfortunately there are times when I require to open a larger amount of applications than I would normally, and this is when my laptop begins to struggle a little.
The laptop isnt of much worth, it's just something I use in college (I have a desktop at home), which is why I was a little shocked when I saw the prices for new RAM modules to fit my laptop! They appear to be the most expensive!!
I ran a stats program on the laptop to identify the type of RAM required and I think I know what I need now, but would be grateful if someone could confirm. I believe I need a PC100 144 Pin SDRam Module.
(The stats were this: Type = SDRAM, Frequency = 100mhz, FSB:RAM = 1:1, CAS# Latency = 2.0, Chipset = Intel 440ZX, Motherboard = Fujitsu Biscaynese)
I know that I currently have two 128mb modules installed, and due to the high prices (im a student lol) I can only just stretch to a 256 module. I would prefer to just remove both 128's and install a 512 module if it weren't for price! (512 is the max supported, btw)
Firstly, can I mix a 128 and a 256? Also, have I identified the correct memory type? Why is this memory so expensive? And also, does anyone have the required 256 or 512 module lying around that would willing to sell for a reasonable price? I am in the UK, but would happily pay to have it shipped.... A 256 module over here costs the equivalent of $75+ (US) and a 512 is about $110+ (US), and thats second hand on Ebay - the retail prices for new modules are double that! Since I'm unemployed at the moment these are a lot of money!!!
If anyone can help me to answer any of the above questions then I would be very grateful, and even moreso if someone has a module theyre willing to sell!!!
Thanks in advance guys,
Matt
