I tried the programme that you suggested

and it found out the manufacturere of my soundcard. I've been having all the same problems as everybody else, tried for a week everything that was suggested on most forums, and YOUR suggestion was the one that got my sound back!
My advice is use the programme linked above to find out who the manufacturer of your soundcard is, go to their website and dl their Driver (My info was VIA, AC97 and VT8233a). My main problem was that I dled so many others, thinking that it was the correct one, but this programme detailed all the correct info that I needed.
