Still more confusing, this may make it clearer, it appears it's a common problem, http://www.allensmith.net/HP/Riptide.htm

this guy seems to have the answer, the driver at HP is an update to an already Installed driver. Scroll down to
DriversGuide.com riptide-chameleon-W982K.exe this is the full version taken from a HP recovery disk.You will need to register with DriversGuide ( it's a safe site)
Look at the notes on how to install.
