any time you overclock, you stress the component beyond what it was designed and tested for. this will create more heat, and will warrant more efficient cooling. i am not that savvy with AMD slot A's and don't know what was standard along the lines of cooling. but most say that "stock" cooling will handle light overclocking. personally, I would rather be safe than sorry.
