0_o Ah, you don't know what RAM is? You may be thinking IDE cables by that desc.
Anyway, the RAM should look like one of these:

If he guessed right, you're going to be needing some new ones. Although the ones you have now could just be poorly seated (meaning not lined up properly in the slot.)
