TopFarmer -can you repeat this info to the guy who has destroyed two drives quite recently ( This hardware forum)-- I suspected mechanical - and your post describes how "sensitive" a HDD can be if not "just right" - other than that, they are pretty reliable - - -

tones is right - clicking is a sure sign it's about to croak. Remove the non-OS drive and that should resolve the clicking-source.
Lots of back-ups are good - but when it fails it "might" cause some problems - better to retire it early IMHO...drives are cheap enough and you'll have to replace it soon enough - better do it while there is some data-transfer possible. Why risk your data, eh?
