I do have a Compaq Presario according to the massive lettering on the front of my PC, I'm not sure if it's a 5000, but it was a relatively common model when I got the PC.
The Sound and Multimedia device simply states my Sound Playback as being ESS Allegro, no more, no less.
And yes, there is a yellow "!" mark next to the ES1888 Plug and Play Audiodrive (WDM) when I troubleshoot it tells me that
"This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)
If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system."
