Generic Host ~ Audio Goodbye

Terribly sorry if this is in the wrong forum:

Hello~

In the past week I have gotten a "Generic Host win 32 error" Saying that the process must close.

Now I have read over and over several different forums and topics. One has suggested a virus another hardware. None have fully helped or even explained my problem ;;

Now I highly doubt its hardware this is a 1 month old system, newly bought and paid for. There were no problems or issues before I got the error. This is my system:

Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 2
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ 2.00 GHz, 1.87 GB Ram

I have done ALL the microsoft updates, I did the hotfix for the microsoft generic host error, it did not work. I did 2 fresh installs where the error still comes up. I use deepfreeze on both my computers, this computer is the only one with the error (my gaming computer). The error is causing my Audio to "blank out" I am unable to use any settings, my microphone, webcam, movie audio, CDs etc. When I click on my audio tab I am unable to change the volume, it comes up with an error stating that I have no mixers installed. Yet device manager comes up with no problem hardware etc. I tried to use trend micro housecall to scan for malware etc and it closes halfway through. I have checked msconfig to see if there is anything running in my startup that shouldn't be there... nothing.

Im at a loss, again I have looked at several forums done the hotfixes and updates. I have not gotten the error in 2 days even after restarts, yet I am still unable to access my audio controlls. I will check this forum regularily for responses if anyone has tackled this problem and is willing to walk me through the nessecary steps plz feel free to contact me through MSN~ TheQMV

Plz help

Thanks alot,
Candace~
