Also, whenever I try to change the volume settings everything is greyed out and when I click on Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices from Control Panel, I receive a message stating there are no active mixer devices available. To my understanding, the motherboard is utilising Analog Devices ADI 198x Integrated Audio, but there appears to be no driver installed. I downloaded two different drivers made for the Dimension 4100 and one other PC but to no avail. Here is a cut and paste of Belarc, could someone point me in the right direction?

I appreciate your help

According to Dell your comp supports Win 2000 and 2003 Server, the audio is shown only for these 2 systems http://support.euro.dell.com/support...s=WNT5&osl=EN#

The chipset is Intel 875P, go here to Intel and update the chipset for Win XP, it installs INF files to the target system http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...5&submit=Go%21
No: 1 in the list, install then RESTART your comp

The driver for the Win 2000 may work, but if not try the ADI 198x you have already downloaded

Hope this helps
