The thing is my onboard sound controller in the motherboard went bust a few years back, so i had gotten a PCI sound card to replace it. the Card was a VIA AC'97 Enhanced Audio Controller PCI, according to my AIDA32 report, but when I tried the realtek AC 97 driver bundle, it gave me the problems I mentioned before. So what should I do?
Edit: I also tried the Soundmax driver from the link you gave me, just in case, but it doesn't work. When it installs it would cancel installation midway and flash a message "Error: Driver Not found" or some such.
