So what should I do?
Edit: I also tried the Soundmax driver from the link you gave me, just in case, but it doesn't work. When it installs it would cancel installation midway and flash a message "Error: Driver Not found" or some such.

Via AC'97 Enhanced Audio Controller PCI, indicates Via onboard sound, look here at Via
http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx...SubCatID =104
a Via AC'97 PCI audio is offered a DriverGuide
http://members.driverguide.com/drive...riverid=124690
now this is a Diamond Flower Inc ( DFI ) sound card
Set a System restore Point before installing just inn case
Hope this helps
