the Chipset is the ULi 1695, but to be honest not sure which ULi driver you need.

The problem with M$ is another thing, I think a Repair Install may help, see here on how to http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

you won't lose data but may solve one problem

Sorry to be a little vague, I'll ask on another site on the chipset.

One thing, on the motherboard installation disc, does it not list the Chipset driver, it is usally the first in the list.
