I v got a proplem with sound as well - right after installing XP home updates. I scanned my system with Belarc to find out the spec as you adviced somewhere on this forum. The properties of sound and audio Devices in Control Panel tell me that I don t have playback device or recording device or midi music device. Probably I would need to reinstall drivers, but I am not sure would I and where to get them from.
