The sound system worked on this computer in the past.

The sound no longer works.

XP can't see the mobo sound device in device manager.

I tried updating the mobo sound driver and chipset driver, just in case XP needs this in order to see the mobo's sound device.

I confirmed that the mobo bios has sound system **enabled**. I checked this, and even booted, disabled it, and rebooted and enabled it.

Belarc shows on multimedia devices, and does not list a sound device in the mobo section.

I'm ready to just disable the Intel mobo sound device, and just install a separate sound card.
