Everything appears to be working correctly just no sound coming out of speakers or headphone jacks. No system sounds. No sound at all. If I play a song using itunes or windows media player it plays the song with no errors and appears to be playing it from the audio bars at the bottom (not sure the exact term for those bars that go up and down based on the song). Just no sound comes out. I've been reading posts on here and tried everything I've seen thus far. I changed the registry back to default. I changed the BIOS back to all default settings. I used system restore to try several different restore points where I knew the sound previously worked. Still no sound. I'm completely stumped and would greatly appreciate any help I can get. Like I said everything appears completely normal, everything plays, no errors, no hardware conflicts. Just no sound out of the speakers or headphones or anything. Thanks ahead for your time.

check these
Go to Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Properties / Sound Playback – click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.
Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply > click Start > Reboot.
hope this helps
