Modem not working

Just installed Vista last night. (What a joke) Had to use Beta sound drivers to get puny sound out of it. Now, can't get modem to work. Its a Creative/Broadxent 56K internal. XP software caused the computer to lock up and then I lost the video and audio drivers. Had to restore to an earlier point. Creative says their not bothering with Vista drivers. So it appears I'm stuck.
Is there any modem out there that has Vista drivers or is recognized by Vista and has generic drivers installed?
