At Intel those boards do not have a sound driver for Win XP but only for Win 2000, also no chipset driver, you can get the chipset driver here

No:3 install then RESTART your comp
the audio is Soundmax which is the driver you downloaded and installed but a newer version than the one listed for your board.
Try installing the audio driver again
SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE
