huge desktop background problem

Hello, I'm not sure where to post a thread like this, I am new, and this is my first post here, but I have a huge problem. I'm not sure what version of XP I have, but the problem is that I recently fixed my computer, and got rid of over 800 virus's (one including trojan horse, that vir us is a killer!) and my computer was fine.

After installing a few AVG anti-spyware programs, weverything was fine, but then i turned my computer on one day, and the desktop was black. I tried to change it back to my original desktop background, but it wouldn't let me. Now I'm not irrogent, I looked up this problem many times and while switching back and fourth between JPG pictures and BMN pictures, nothing happened, it was still black.

I did see a certain answer that told me i should rght click>propertie>desktop>web tab and delete everything in that tap, but then comes to my problem: Everything got deleted except the "My Current Home Page" tab.

I have it disabled, because enabling t messes my computer up. I cannot delete this tab because i click it, and the "delete" button is un-clickable (it locked the delete button). Now I have no idea what the heck is going on here, and I fear that if i never get this fixed, i'll be stuck with a black desktop background for a long time.

If anybody could help me, It would be highly appreciated (even though appreciation fr om a seventeen year old isn't much). Thanks to anyone who can help me.
