Network XP login user settings

I have a laptop with xp pro (used to be home ed). I use the laptop in the office network and I have a small network at home with some macs and pcs. I typically don't have problems, but I cannot connect to 1 printer at work.

Right now I am set up so I login to my computer (not the works domain server) and use the workgroup as the works network name. The problem is that I can connect to 2 machines, one running win 98 and the login server running NT 4, but when I try to connect to the win 2000 workstations it says I need a valid user name and password. None of my usernames and passwords work. It keeps putting my computer name in front of the username for me.

BUT when I change all my settings and login under the office networks domain (so I use the work login server) then I have access to the other computers and can print. BUT all my user settings are different on my computer like desktop, etc. because it thinks I am a different person.

How can I have access to everthing and not have to switch back and forth with my different users?

Ill respond to any questions you need.

Also I want to know if I can put home ed back on because I am just trying out the Pro to see if it fixes this problem. I also have access to win 2000 to put on my machine if it'll work.
