i have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers on the disk that came
with the motherboard a few times without any luck and looked in device
manager which says i have no sound device installed i have tried
installing a few different ones also without any luck. i dont really
know what i am doing or where to look for things so if you need any
more info on the pc you will have to try and tell me where to find it.

in device manager under sound, video and game controllers i have listed,
audio codecs, lecacy audio codecs, legacy video capture devices,
media control devices, SOUNDMAX integrated digital audio, video codecs,
and under system devices
system speakers in properties, general- it says "no drivers are installed
for this device" device type - system devices, Location - on PCI bus

In system properties - general is says
System, microsoft windows xp, professional, version 2002 service pack 2
computer - AMD sempron(tm) processor 3000+
1.8Ghz, 512 MB of ram
physical address extention

have supplied as much info as i know how to find please can anyone help
am nearly at the end of my tether with it

I also get a little error message up on start up that says "unable to set
tary icon" not sure if this is related or something different

and i have also had an error code of - 536870397
any help would be gratefully received

Look in Device Manager for anything yellow flagged, looks like you need the chipset drivers. As you have the motherboard disc you can get Device Manager to install for you.

The SM Bus is the first you need to correct, do it this way, load motherboard disc, then close the programe and leave disc in driver.

Go to Device Manager, right click problem hardware (yellow flagged)- select Update Driver - the hardware Wizard launches / select No, not this time to go online / Next / Install software automatically ( Recomended ) / Next

it will search the disc and install driver for you

if this does not work then you may have to go into BIOS to enable sound, post back for more help.
