Angry Have Advice & Need Help Also

Hi

Just recently I have started having trouble with svchost.exe on two of my computers. They both run XP Home SP2. They have Norton AntiVirus and a firewall. Within the past week, svchost started destroying my PC. When the process is running, all files are there and everything works fine for about 5 minutes after startup. But then, the system freezes. Afetr somehow opening Task Manager, I end it. Then, the taskbar turns grey (like the older ones), Windows Media Player doesn't work, the audio drivers aren't detectable, and Windows Update doesn't work. I tried reinstalling XP and drivers, but NOTHING is working. HELP!!!!!! If you can, please also respond to pageof@cox.net.

Though all of this happened to me, I did find a few ways to temporarily get teh system to function. If you close My Computer, reinstall all audio files and players, and restart explroer.exe, and then shut down your PC, svchost will not come back for 10 minutes after rebooting. It seems useless, but I don't know what else to do.

Thanks in advance,
pageof
