This is interesting, because I couldn't see the OS amongst all the chit-chat....I had to look twice, so maybe that's the real lesson.
Having stated The Issue, then your system should be described...not every detail, but relevent to the problem.
In addition_ I'd suggest we should say what we did "before" this problem arose - it may have been "brought-on" ....of course in many instances the PC croaks and we have done nothing, or an installed piece of software may have been "provoked" by some set of circumstances and this created mayhem in the Registry, (etc.) - until the exact same combination occurs, it will not do it again and mostly folk put it down to a "bug" - or maybe a "Spike". Computer software is never 100% bug-free.
So, in this case it is Windows-ME and presumably the author has the disc and is naturally hoping they can avoid starting over again. But it sounds somewhat severe....I wonder what were they doing to cause it?
Wait a Bit.... how are they making contact if all the PCI-bits are out of service?
If they ae using another PC perhaps that should be made clear....
