when i look under device manager, xp recognizes the audio controller as "Intel(r) AC'97 Audio Controller", but says it has failed to start, ive looked all over for literaly 7hrs total for a driver, and i cant find one, not even on the manufacturers site, ive checked all over ibm.com, lenovo.com, and intel.com, lenovo has drivers for all but my specific model
sorry i cant provide more info, but ive come across many post leading to this site, and it seems like you give a lot of help here, hope you can help me out, any help will be very appreciated

I can find the Thinkpad i 1200 - 1161 - this is the Audio driver

SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE
