"Flash" software under Win98SE

Recently on a site I use (not PC-related) I am getting "Error in Internet Explorer - this will close down" (the wording is different, but same sense).
The result is that I'm off the site!
If I ask for the error,(Starts) IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in
module FLASH.OCX at 0167:02622db9.

Now as far as I recall I have not upgraded my "flash" files, nor interferred with them.....but I don't even know where to look....or what they should look like.
I'm prepared to reload them, but suspect the re may be an issue with Win98SE and the general push to force folk to "upgrade" - er, that's spend money you don't need to.
I hate flash and ignore it whenever possible, having limited memory and HDD space...and I don't like having to watch what are usually advertisements (except here, pays for the site!)
As I don't want to view advertisements, I'm wondering if I can triclk the software into thinking it is all up-to-date whilst leaving it inoperable....

Note: this (above) relates to the Animation program "Flash" . . . . . and not USB-devices I asked about recently. That is "almost cured" since I bought a 1G USB flash- memory and downloaded the necessary driver from ScanDisk - after some problems it seems the thingy does work (bought today!). In one handy device I have nearly 900 floppy's. That's progress, until it fails....arrgh!
