This thread is awesome! I did what Spyderballs said and got the sounds back on my Dell laptop. Under service status make sure you click "Start". I didn't even have to restart or change to Windows Default. So again, go to Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services (Local) -> Windows Audio. Under Startup Type select Automatic and under Service Status click Start. Thanks for your help everyone.
