If you have an XP CD, put it in the CD drive and see if it will boot to the CD.

If it does, choose Repair the first time it's offered and eventually it'll get you to the Recovery Console, a DOS-looking screen.

Type "chkdsk /r" (without the quotes, with the space after "chkdsk"), press the Enter key.

When the scan is finished, (it can take a while, be patient), type "exit" (without the quotes) and press the Enter key.

If chkdsk was able to find and repair the errors, it will boot on into Windows.
