Microsoft Kernel Accoustic Echo Cancellor
Microsoft Kernel Audio Splitter
Microsoft Kernel DLS synthesizer
Microsoft Kernel DRM audio descrambler
Microsoft Kernel GS wavetable synthesizer
Microsoft Kernel system audio device
Microsoft Kernel wave audio mixer
Microsoft streaming clock proxy
Microsoft streaming quality manager proxy
Microsoft streaming service proxy
Microsoft WINMM WDM audio compatibility driver
VIA AC’97 audio controller (WDM)

another odd thing is that my printer driver is also showing the same error. Updating any of these things also produces the same error. ???? I don't know what is happening, please help

Check that Via is the default driver
Go to Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Sound Playback – click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

Try a manual install, by updatibg Via Ac'97 and directing to downloaded file

1. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
2. Right-click the the yellow flagged device ( or audio device Realtek, Soundmax etc ) and choose Update Driver
3. In Windows XP SP2, the Update Wizard will prompt to connect to the Windows Update
4. Select "No, not this time" and click Next
5. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next.
6. Select "Search for the best driver in theses locations" and check "Include this location in the search"
7. Click Browse and select the the location of downloaded driver
8. Click OK and click Next
9. Wait while the Wizard installs the software
10. Click Finish.
