I have a similar, but different problem and I hope you can help...
alright, see, my sound was working fine in Win XP until I updated all my hardware drivers recently. in upgrading to the latest version of the Realtek AC'97 Audio Driver my sound no longer works. Tried uninstall and reinstall, but to no avail. Heres my specs.
