Hello, if I may intrude? I have a related problem and saw here the many high caliber members so I felt maybe there's hope for me too?
A small, vertical rectangle about 2" x 1", greenish/greysh color, appears in the middle of my screen so that it's next to impossible to work, it doesn't move when I scroll the screen up and down so it's always in there and no X to get rid of. It only says on top: "Volume", on bottom: "Mute" with a space to put a check mark, and in the middle there's a sliding mark to go up or down . I went to properties, and many other places but nothing refers to this thing. Somewhere in Properties I saw many of these all lined up and all blank(?). I also went to "Sound & audio" - nothing. I tried google too nothing either. I even went to the places mentioned in this forum but didn't even see the word "Audio"...
Being this thing is so weird I wonder if anyone ever came across it??? Thanks ever SO much for any ideas on how to get rid of this little thing but big nightmare! :-) Adela
