This thread really saved my bacon from a complete reload, thanks. Although my problem turned out to be "Microtek Scanner Finder" that loads into the systray at startup. I removed it from the start up folder and now my computer runs like I just did a fresh install of XPpro. My USB 2.0 Microtek 5900 scanner works better without the scanner finder, I don't know or care why, it just does. Running through the trouble shooting tips in this thread made it possible, Thanks again and good luck to all on resolving your SVChost problems.
