Hello again.

Having now discovered that SigmaTel runs the audio in Sony Vaio machines, I found a driver and installed it, but I don't know if it's the right one or if more is required. Anyway, it registers in Device Manager and says it is working normally, but I still have no sound. My mic was also not working, but on boot today, I am hearing loud feedback as the mic is picking up everything. I can't control this in windows settings and can only turn the speaker vol down.

My machine came with Vista. After struggling with that for a while, I decided to give up, re-format and go back to what I know......XP. Everything is OK except this sound problem. All my settings seem OK. Here are reports generated by K-Lite Codec Pack, Winamp and Media Player Classic. I should add that video plays perfectly. Any help will be much appreciated and thanks in advance.
