My speakers are internal; so I would appreciate assistance on what steps to take to resolve the issue. My statistics from Belarc are below.

Check this first

Go to Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Audio tab / Sound Playback – click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

for that model 3 audio drivers, see here http://support.euro.dell.com/support...&catid=&impid=
click Audio +

now where your audio plugs are will determine which audio you need, see here, click image to focus http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...0io%20slot.JPG

plugs on I/O plate - sigmatel intergrated audio

expansion slot - Creative driver

SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions
