*sigh*... more $$$
The board is a D865PERL with AGP, so no PCIe option. I built it myself a year or two ago when the Prescott CPU came out, and have added to it from time to time. Intel shows the board in their "retired" listings now so there is going to be little in future support and updated drivers. I would definitely buy Intel again though. This one worked from day one and has never given me any problems. The BIOS is a snap if you need to change anything, and the board has a great layout when you need to change something on it.
So, PCIe is the way to go? Maybe 2Gb RAM? I actually thought that my machine was a little better than average with what I have in it, maybe not. :-)
The only question is, how will Microsoft treat my re-installation of Vista when I put it onto the new machine?
I guess I'll head to Tiger Direct on pay day!
