After you've connected the hardware, try to go through Control Panel -> Add New Hardware -> select "I've already connected my hardware." and follow the steps, it should get recognized. To see if your PC does see the card, right click My Computer -> go to the Hardware tab -> click Device Manager and you should see your card under Network Adapters either with or without a yellow "!" mark, as Kevin said in the above post.
If the yellow "!" mark is by the device, the PC doesn't recognize the device and you will need to install the drivers for it. Right clicking the device and selecting 'Update Driver' should do the trick once you have the driver, you can get the driver from the manufacturer's website or from a CD which came with the card itself.
