I am running Windows XP on a Dell laptop. I believe I had a virus which erased my control panel. I cannot go to add/remove programs, the clock, control panel, or administrator options without getting a message that says "this operation has been cancelled due to restictions in effect on this computer. please, contact the system administrator." I am the system administrator. I ran Antivir and I believe I have removed the virus, but I still cannot perform several functions such as safely remove hardware. This is very frustrating. From over readings, I have gathered that I may have a problem with my registery. I am new to computing. I really don't know what that is or how to adjust it withoutt further complicating things. Please, any help is much appreciated.
