Realtek: NO SOUND but EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED PROPERLY
Hi. I'm having a problem with my sound not working but it's weird how I try to troubleshoot close to every problem (plus searching this forum and others).
I have a P4 3.Ghz, Asus P5ND2-SLI mobo with a AC97 Realtek sound device running on Windows XP.
I have installed the necessary components: AC97 device, directx 9, nvidia chipset thingy plus connected the speakers to the green 'line out'.
When I go to the ASUS RealTek Sound Manager, I set the FRONT Speaker Connector (Green LINE IN) to the speakers and PRESS START. A display shows that speaker are properly connected to the line in. But when i try to test if there's sound, NOTHING comes out.
STRANGLY though, after trying something else, I changed the Speaker Config. on the RealTek Sound Manger to 4 CH and put the speaker jack to another input (a gray one) and when i test, it works but it's playing the REAR SPEAKERS and not the FRONT - which is not what i want as a quick fix.
JUST TO LET YOU KNOW:
- It's a NEW installed built computer with Windows XP, so ROLLING BACK the driver is pointless since it won't allow me anyway.
- The Windows Audio Service IS on and starts automatically
- There are NO yellow (!) errors on the Device manager for any sound component or any component for that matter
- I have installed the ONLINE ASUS Realtek AC97 Driver from their site and still no luck
- AC97 DRIVER is ENABLED on ASUS bios
- The Default Device is RealTek AC97 Audio and windows DOES recognize this component.
- I have reinstalled windows xp over and over with no luck (while doing the steps above)
- I have installed windows xp with a service pack and still no luck (while doing the steps above)
Yes probably a hard one to solve since EVERYTHING is in PROPER order, it's just that there's no sound for UNKNOWN reasons.
Could someone please help me fix this problem
thanks
