Okay, I am doing this very procedure today, and when Norton Ghost asked me what letter I wanted to assign to my new HDD I thought "hmmmm..." and hit google.

Basically I'm putting a larger HDD into my Dell Inspiron 8600 Laptop. I've got the new one connected via USB at the moment and am using the Norton "copy disk" feature. I've already copied the Dell Utility partition.

I want to understand correctly - as long as I select "none" as the letter name for the new HDD main partition, it should automatically name it C when I install in internally? (It will be the only HDD drive connect at that time.)

The new HDD has no letter associated with it in the Disk Manager view. Odd though, I don't see the Dell Utility Partition doesn't show up either.

Just want to check things BEFORE I do this!
