Please help, laptop not reaching Internet
Hi,
I am having issues connecting to the Internet on my laptop. It keeps telling me that a cable is not plugged into the network adapter "Local Area Connection". As background:
Laptop HP
OS - Vista
Wireless for Internet connection
Desktop Dell
OS - XP
Using Netgear Rangemax wireless router
ISP - TimeWarner Road Runner
Using a cable modem
Nothing has changed since I was online last night, the system has been working fine for 9 months. My husband used the desktop to connect this morning and no issues on it, I am using it now and have Internet connectivity. He did shut the desktop down this morning, but that has never caused an issue in the past.
In addition, we use VoIP and that is working as well. I did notice that the wireless switch wasn't pushed all the way over on the laptop, so I turned that on, have shut it down twice and even unplugged the wires from my Netgear router and still no connectivity to the laptop. The only issues I have had in the past was being too far from my router, but I have the laptop 1 and half foot from the router now and it still is not picking up a connection. I have tried resetting the adapters on the laptop and still nothing.
Any help would be appreciated.
