hey all
i come across this thread as i was browsing the forum. i am new to the forum so be gentle with me lol.
This might be a stupid idea maybe but with all my experience in routers and D-Link boxes they do a very very good job at bloking website access.
You can buy a Dlink box for about 40 quid UK GBP and enter the two url's myspace.com
www.myspace.com and also myspace.co.uk
www.myspace.co.uk etc and the dlink bax with filter that url out no matter what the IP is.
just a thought maybe it has been already mentioned but hardware site and ip filtering is much more reliable and effective than software on the host PC.
you could get that one bit more advance and setup a Linux box and use IpTables in the linux kernel which is free and run your internet network through the linux box. all you need is a crappy pentium or pentium2 if you want a bit extra compile time. oh and 2 network card one for data in and the other for data out.
I'd say a linux firewalled box or buy a D-Link is about the best you can get for this if you ask me.
