Hi friends i am a new user and require a bit of help.

I have the same problem of sound as many others but mine is a bit different.
After reformatting my computer and installing windows xp pro build 2600 when i tried installing the sound driver the soundmax software says that this version is not supported by my hardware. I downloaded the latest version but still the same problem.

My Specs:

OS : Windows xp pr0 sp2 build 2600
Motherboard : Asus P5GL-MX
Processor : Pentium 4 2.8ghz
RAM : Kingston 512 DDR I
Hard Disk : Maxtor 40gb

I have checked everything in the device manager and in the sound section only codecs are listed and that belrac software list none in multimedia section.I have no ext sound card, it is an inbuilt one.

Is there a fault with the copy of windows because the original windows xp pro i had worked fine. I would like to say that i have only formatted only my c drive and the rest 3 i left out as they contained my songs and games.

PS: Sorry if there is a post about it already but have a dial up connection and it took me about 5min to open this posting window let alone browsing 500 pages long thread.
