I recently upgraded a few home systems from Win98 to Win/XP. I must say the nightmares have been considerable, but I am working through them one by one.

One annoyance is that the speaker volume screen overlay that I used to get in Win98 is no longer working. The volume controls work, but I don't get any visual feedback to volume adjustment, mute, etc. This feedback used to show up as a screen overlay on the bottom left of the monitor. It would display briefly, then disappear.

Is there anyway to get this back ?
