The argument will rage for years, although I do lean towards what Disk Contented has to say. I run 4 PCs 2x XP pro, SBS 2003 and Vista ultimate. The PC running vista has quite good specs ( I built it for Vista).
I ran Vista RC 2 in a VM, before I decided to buy it 2 months after its release. Once I installed the official released version it was a big headache to get it to perform in the way I wanted. Software was not really an issiue but driver performance was. 2x 7900GTs in SLI worked perfect with XP but under Vista it was a dog. Even now I removed one of the cards and have given up on nVidia fixing this problem.
Take it or leave it, XP v Vista I do prefer my Vista machine now but can understand completly why so many will never make the move in the near future to Vista or may never run this OS on there machine.
