Thanks for the help
I quickly got my mouse and video working (I guess the Video cards internal memory was corrupt, so I had to replace the card)
BUT I STILL HAVE NO SOUND

Sorry for the long post, but I’ll start with what I have and what I’ve done. My computer is an old Dell 800mhz Dimension XPS B800r running Win98SE, 512mb RDRAM, and a Creative Sound Blaster Live Value soundcard model # CT4780.

I first tried to delete ALL Creative software on the computer. I started with the uninstall wizard and deleted the drivers from the device manager. I ran a search on the computer for the key words ‘Creative’, ‘Sound Blaster’ and ‘Soundblaster’ and deleted all remnants of the program. Even without reinstalling the software, windows still finds the drivers from the registry. I’m not sure how to delete these drivers. When I reinstall the Sound Blaster software (I have the original disk) I get a prompt telling me that the software is already installed and should be deleted first. I went ahead and reinstalled the software anyway, after-which, I clicked ‘update driver’ in the Device Manager under the Multimedia tab. I have restarted the computer several times to make sure the drivers updated, but still no sound. I KNOW my speakers work and I have removed and re-set my sound card. When I try to play an audio file I get the ‘no audio device’ or ‘PlayCenter could not find the necessary hardware or drivers’ prompt. I get no error indicators in the Device Manager – no yellow ‘!’s. There are three devices listed under ‘Creative Miscellaneous Devices”, which are; ‘Creative Gameport Joystick’, ‘Creative MultiMedia Interface’, and ‘Creative SB16 Emulation’. All seem to be running fine. Under the ‘Sound, Video and Game Controllers’; there is listed ‘Creative SB Live! Value’, and ‘Wave Device for Voice Modem’. All have the ‘Exist in all hardware profiles’ block checked. If I click on the AudioHQ icon in the control panel, I get the ‘no audio device’ prompt. The little ‘speaker’ for the volume control is missing from the desktop taskbar. And when I click on Multimedia from the control panel, there are no devices loaded under the ‘audio’ tab.

I’m thinking my problem is just a missing file or a wrong setting somewhere, but I’m all out of ideals.

Any Ideals???
