No audio device on Intel Motherboard

I am building a new rig and installed XP Pro. Installed the Intel drivers with the mobo CD for on board audio.

"No Audio Device" in the Sound section of the control panel. Drivers are "working properly" accoring to Device Manager. I uninstalled the drivers from the CD and installed newer versions from the web. I have checked the Services section of the Admin Tools. I tried the machine.inf mod trick. I made sure the BIOS is set properly. Intel website states the board uses the Realtek HD Audio ALC268-GR codec. I have installed this as well, all with no success.

XP PRO
Motherboard - Intel DQ35JO Executive Series
Intel Q35 Express Chipset

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
