2. Right-click the the yellow flagged device ( or audio device Realtek, Soundmax C-Media etc ) and choose Update Driver

Can't do that considering no audio device appears,
I also have on-board sound (I/O if you will) that worked just fine
before the system recovery. Now it's as if I removed the chip off the freakin board. YET, drivers present. go figure...
If you read back thru my original post you'll see that I've pretty much tried everything "common" to be the cause of the problem and yet, nada..
