Laptop, missing or corrupt file, no setup discs

Hi can someone pease help me with this?

I have a compaq armada m700 laptop and it won't boot up.

When i turn it on it loads normally and then says:

Windows could not start because the following file is corrupt:
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the origianl Setup CD-ROM.
Select the 'r' at the first screen to start repair.

The laptop if suposed to have windows 2000 on it but the person i baught it off had installed windows xp. I don't have any of the setup discs, what should i do? Is there anywhere i can download the stuff i need to setup?

Thanks
